LeBron James Just Debuted His Own Richard Mille Watch Collab


Richard Mille makes sport watches built for the 21st century. Some of the world’s greatest athletes—folks like Lewis Hamilton, Rafael Nadal, Yohan Blake, and Odell Beckham—actually use the futuristic-looking timepieces during competition. So, of course, the defining basketball player of the last 25 years had to have his own Richard Mille.

This weekend, during an appearance at Fanatics Fest, LeBron James debuted his first collaboration with Richard Mille. The new 65-01 is a limited edition of 150 pieces and blends the King’s and RM’s signatures together.

The 65-01 is classic Richard Mille. The gonzo watch’s display imitates the dashboard of a supercar. It’s brash, bulky, colorful, and looks like it could propel a McClaren Speedtail to over 200 mph with one of its pushers. But the new piece wasn’t complete without a James-themed makeover. The watch is a flurry of colors: bright green shows up on the date window and on James’s logo at 12 o’clock; there are splashes of Laker yellow and purple on the crown, bracelet, subdials, and outer minute track; an icy blue appears on the hour markers and tips of the hand; and, for good measure, there’s a splash of orange to spell out the reference number. Richard Mille timepieces are never subtle, but James’s signature model might still outflex the rest.

James hardly needed another accolade to cement his place among the greatest athletes to ever live, but an RM collaboration is another distinguishing bullet point on his resume. Many of the aforementioned stars have worked with the brand on their own pieces. Nadal and RM have worked together on several different models that he’s wornon the court. Formula 1 driver Charles LeClerc just debuted his own version of the 72-01. Even the cyclist Alain Prost worked with RM on a piece headlined by the inclusion of an odometer. When courting these sporting figures, RM has a simple but compelling sales pitch: few other brands in the luxury space are making watches that can actually keep up with them.

This isn’t James’s first high-profile watch collaboration, either. In 2013, the future hall of famer worked with Audemars Piguet on a special version of the Royal Oak Offshore. In the following years, the Royal Oak would become one of the signature watches of this century and a symbol of one of its defining categories: luxury sport watches. Now, James is pivoting to something much less subtle but just as significant. In 2013, AP was early to recognize the power that cultural figures like James had to shape the tastes of collectors. In 2025, with James solidified as one of the most influential figures on the planet, Richard Mille is adding him to the roster to push its unique vision of the sport watch forward.
