Timothée Chalamet Wears His Hermès Bag With Sweatpants

It’s sadly rare to spot minuscule, five-figure carriers worn with sweatpants. But Chalamet, who once wore sweatpants and sneakers to the Met Gala, seemed to borrow from Jane Birkin or the Olsen sisters’ playbook of Hermès toting; his ultra-casual execution of this look is ultimately what luxury items are for—being worn out in the world during a routine bodega run, as opposed to collecting dust on a shelf alongside a community of misfit show-horse totes.

Project-centric fashion antics aren’t new for Chalamet. During the press tour for A Complete Unknown, the Oscar nominee memorably rocked a ribbed knit beanie, double flannel, and blonde side-swept bangs—a direct tribute to an outfit Bob Dylan wore to the 2003 Sundance Film Festival. Though it teetered on farcical, it seems the LaGuardia alum genuinely enjoys sinking his teeth into his roles, sartorially. (He also frequently styled his hair up to vertiginous heights, much like the folk singer’s.) For Marty Supreme, in particular, the actor has been sporting an unidentified emblem: a running man of sorts, perhaps a mid-serve pong player, embroidered onto a baseball cap and zip-up jacket.

It’s possible that the actor is juggling three roles at the moment: Marty Mauser in Marty Supreme, Paul Atreides in Dune, and Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend in real life. Jenner and her famous family members are avid Hermès collectors; it would only makes sense that Chalamet, in his real-life role, would naturally become a diligent (if cheeky) proprietor of Kellys. The actor and his stylist, Taylor McNeill, seem to revel in the disaggregation of a high-low patchwork wardrobe. Who else would attempt to pull off a leather tracksuit, desert boots, and a bright orange mini Kelly?

At the very least, this Timmy look would make for a great, albeit financially devastating to replicate, Halloween costume.
