Gaza border communities fear ‘return to October 6 policy’ as Hamas violates ceasefire

In an online forum, citizens of the Gaza Envelope are concerned that the situation will grow worse, and are demanding a discussion in the Knesset.

Residents of the Gaza border area have been concerned about Hamas’s repeated violations of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and are worried that the government will return to its “October 6 containment policy,” N12 News reported on Thursday.

Hamas has not only violated the ceasefire by not returning the correct bodies of Israeli hostages or by firing at IDF soldiers in Gaza, but also by repeatedly trespassing the Yellow Line.

In an online forum, residents have expressed concern that the situation will become worse, and have been demanding a discussion in the Knesset, N12 reported.

“There is a chance that we will find ourselves again in a situation where Gaza remains the central threat,” a local leader wrote. “The security review in the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee presents concerning data. We demand information on how the residents of the Gaza Envelope will not face another massacre.”

“The IDF is implementing the agreement according to the political guidelines. The forces continue to operate to destroy infrastructure and eliminate terrorists,” a military spokesperson responded.

IDF prepares for return of more hostage remains

The report came after the remains of Tanzanian student Joshua Luitto Moll were handed over to Israel.

On Saturday morning, the IDF announced that forensic authorities had identified the remains of Lior Rudaeff, who was killed in Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak on October 7.

Hours later, a report assured that the IDF was preparing to receive more hostage remains, with no further announcements as of Sunday morning.
