Eurostar urges passengers to rebook amid Channel tunnel disruption
Train services between the United Kingdom and mainland Europe have been severely disrupted due to problems with the overhead power line in the Eurotunnel, operator Eurostar said on Tuesday.
A car train was stranded due to the power failure, Eurostar said, urging customers to postpone their journeys amid likely delays and last-minute cancellations.
“Your train is currently scheduled to run, but your journey could be disrupted. We strongly advise all our passengers to postpone their journey to a different date. Please don’t come to the station unless you already have a ticket to travel,” it said on its website.

Several train cancellations were already listed on the website.
Eurostar operates passenger trains between Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and London. The Le Shuttle car train allows motorists to travel between Calais and Folkestone in England through the Eurotunnel.
Le Shuttle said operations were currently suspended on both sides of the Channel due to a power supply problem.
Hundreds of people were reported to have gathered in the waiting area at St Pancras station in London, where the Eurostar has its terminal.
