7 Netflix Shows to Get Hyped for in 2026
Created by The Lazarus Project‘s Joe Barton, this was one of those rare streaming shows that was just a straight-up easy and fun watch that also had substance. A gripping assassin thriller with a uniquely queer, campy bent, Black Doves starred Ben Whishaw as Sam Young, a hitman who is sent to protect Helen Webb (Keira Knightley), a spy who is deeply embedded within the British state via her Secretary of State husband. It was also set around Christmas, so it came with a lot of festive cheer. Stylish, sleek, beautiful gowns. Season two is set to continue Sam and Helen’s story, and it’s set for release later this year.
The Gentlemen (season 2)

Among the more welcome surprises of the last couple of years was the first season of The Gentlemen. It really shouldn’t have worked on paper; I mean, did we really need a TV spin-off for a Guy Ritchie B-movie? Are we really that deep into the Content trenches that even the RCU—Ritchie Cinematic Universe—is spawning lore-deepening follow-ups? But hey, we’ll shut the eff up, because the show was probably better than the film it was based on, combining Ritchie’s proclivity for gleeful violence with a vivid ensemble of equally cartoonish characters, played by a terrifically committed cast. The likes of Theo James and Kaya Scodelario are set to return for season two, wherein we’ll probably see the continued expansion of the Glasses’ cannabis empire.
Something Very Bad is Going to Happen

The end of Stranger Things might have proven divisive, but all eyes remain on the Duffer Brothers and what they do next. Though they have little stated creative involvement—they are credited as executive producers—a 2026 project of particular interest from their production company Upside Down Pictures is Something Very Bad is Going to Happen, a horror-drama created by Haley Z. Boston. It stars Daisy Jones & The Six‘s Camila Morrone and The White Lotus season two’s Adam DiMarco, also recently seen in Overcompensating, as an engaged couple who face catastrophe on the lead up to their wedding day. Showrunner Boston’s previous writing credits include cult miniseries Brand New Cherry Flavor and Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, so you know you’re in decent genre hands.
Big Mistakes

Hot off the success of I Love LA, with a part soon to come in Charli XCX’s meta mockumentary The Moment, Rachel Sennott is teaming up with Dan Levy on Big Mistakes. Written by the duo—Sennott will not appear in front of camera this time around, though Levy stars alongside Taylor Ortega and Laurie Metcalf—the series is described by Tudum as a “family crime comedy” about two siblings, played by Ortega and Metcalf, who are “blackmailed into the world of organized crime.”
