Air Force One to lead the way with red-white-blue-gold pattern, replacing Kennedy-era colors

Air Force One and other planes in the executive transportation fleet are getting a new color scheme that President Trump has wanted since his first administration.

The new colors will be red, white, dark blue and a gold stripe, the Air Force confirmed to Fox News on Tuesday.

The livery will apply to the entire executive airlift fleet, including a jet given to Mr. Trump by Qatar, two Boeing VC-25B planes that will serve as the next generation of Air Force One, and four C-32 planes, the type of aircraft used as Air Force Two, the Air Force officials said.

The new-look planes’ delivery is expected anywhere from a few months to 2028.

The gold stripe is a new addition to the color scheme.

The president underscored his desire for the colors when he used a saber to cut a slice of a cake at his inaugural ball that was topped with a model plane exhibiting the new design for Air Force One, according to CNN.

In a 2018 appearance on CBS News after making a deal with Boeing for the new presidential aircraft, Mr. Trump related how “I said, ’I wonder if we should use the same baby blue colors?’ And we’re not. Red, white and blue. Air Force One is going to be incredible. It’s going to be the top of the line, the top in the world. And it’s going to be red, white and blue, which I think is appropriate.”

His plan to implement the new color scheme was axed in 2022 during the Biden administration over concerns that a darker underside to the plane could overheat certain components, reported CNN.
