Barbour’s Greatest Jacket Rarely Goes on Sale. I Just Found One for 60% Off

Even if you’re somehow not convinced that the Barbour Bedale is the greatest jacket ever invented, it’s certainly the greatest Barbour jacket ever invented. We think so, and there are generations of average-Joe dudes and landed English gentry who agree. (That’s generations, plural, BTW.)

There’s a reason the British heritage label, generally, and the Bedale, specifically, has remained the first name in waxed-canvas excellence this long into its tenure: it starts with the the luscious corduroy collar, extends to the solid brass hardware and tartan lining, and encompasses everything from the patina that waxy exterior accrues to the endless layering opportunities that just-right fit enables. In other words, Barbour’s most iconic jacket is as good as it gets.

Barbour

Bedale Waxed Jacket

One of the best waxed jackets ever made rarely goes on sale. (When it’s that good, Barbour really doesn’t need to discount it.) So consider this a sign from the fashion gods to stop with the excuses and just buy one already.

Typically, a product so unanimously beloved wouldn’t go on sale. (Even on the secondhand market, gently-worn Barbour jackets at a slight discount remain in high demand.) There’s not much typical about Black Friday, though, and this year is already shaping up to be exceptional in a few ways. Exhibit A: Though Barbour itself isn’t hosting an official Black Friday sale, a handful of other retailers have slyly marked down their supply of the brand’s inventory.

I’ll be honest—it was tough to find a whole lot of Barbour on sale, let alone a bargain on the Bedale jacket. But damn it, I somehow managed to pull it off, because 1) I’m good at my job, and 2) I want you (but mostly my bosses) to know it. And not only did I ID a rare deal on the best Barbour jacket since Barbour’s been making ‘em, I took the liberty of ID’ing a few very sick alternatives, including rare archival reissues, pleasantly hardy wool parkas, slept-on shower-proof shells, and more.
