Francis was at 116 pitches when he gave up the home run. It was a long day for the starter and he just wasn’t able to close the deal.
He would have become only the second pitcher in Blue Jays history to record the feat. Pitcher Dave Stieb recorded the first-ever no-hitter in Toronto’s history back in Sept. 1990.

Bowden entered the day with a record of 6-3 and an ERA of 4.38 for the season. He had struck out 58 batters over 63.2 innings of work.
