Cheers to Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson’s Black-Tie Hard Launch
Just days after hinting at their relationship via steamy, Rolex-forward posts on Instagram, rapper Megan Thee Stallion and Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson made their romance red-carpet official in New York City on Wednesday. The new couple attended a charity gala for Megan’s Pete & Thomas Foundation, which supports underserved women, children, and seniors in her hometown of Houston, Texas.
For the black-tie occasion in Midtown Manhattan, Megan Thee Stallion stunned in a plunging halter-necked gown by Off-White, the LVMH-owned label founded in 2013 by the late streetwear visionary Virgil Abloh. The dress, which was designed by Off-White’s creative director Ib Kamara, featured a hefty embellished belt that criss-crossed around Megan’s hips. Thompson, meanwhile, took the tried-and-true route in a peak-lapel tuxedo and shiny black lace-up shoes.
The duo held hands as they took to the red carpet, where, while speaking to People, Megan called Thompson “the nicest person I’ve ever met in my life.”
Technically, Megan and Thompson made their first public appearance together on Monday, when the couple enjoyed a late-night date at Italian hot spot Carbone in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. The outing followed the duo’s recent Instagram tête-à-tête, which saw Thompson post a photo over the weekend that appeared to show him kissing Megan while on vacation in the Bahamas. On July 9, Megan posted a poolside shot of her sitting on the ledge of a hot tub; fans noticed a mysterious man far in the background, whom they quickly identified as the NBA star.
“We met and it was such a meet-cute, it was like a fucking movie,” Megan told People on Wednesday. “I won’t tell you how and I won’t tell you when, but it was a movie.”
