Comme des Garçons Shirt Fall 2026 Menswear Collection
Shuffling off to the Comme des Garçons Shirt show on Saturday morning always feels like participating in a well-kept fashion week secret. Starting promptly (four minutes early this time!), and with seating allocated on a first-come first-served basis, it provided some soothing respite from the PR clipboard-bashing, air-smooching and eternal waiting around that defines the rest of the week.
Similar to the funereal CDG mainline collection that showed the previous afternoon, it largely unfolded in a somber show of black. But of course this is Shirt, and so what came down the runway was a much-diffused offering that centered around its namesake garment. We started with some artfully swishy tailoring with gathered seams, and an initial parade of black shirts that were decorated with cutout windows and strips of the various blues familiar to classic men’s office shirts, all footed by the brand’s trusty collaboration with Asics. Continuing the brand’s ongoing effort to partner with artists, the graphic artwork on the shirts and knits were made in collaboration with artists Yui Takada and Ikki Kobayashi.
A brief intermission of Fred Perry polos followed, along with black quilted vinyl jackets and hoodies that twisted diagonally across the body, while neon paint spatters livened up the midriffs of a few shirts and blazers. The earlier cutout shapes were then echoed on fitted dark knits and white shirting, before we ended on a cheering show of gold and silver lamé, alchemized into blazers and on the contrasting pockets and collars of striped shirts. It was on the wackier side of what we’ve come to expect from Shirt, but brought a welcome shot of sunshine to a bone-cold morning.
