Donald Trump mocked after joking about removing his shirt
Former President Donald Trump was mocked on social media on Saturday after he joked about taking his shirt off during a speech at a Faith and Freedom Coalition conference.
Trump was the keynote speaker at the “Road to Majority” conference in Washington, D.C., hosted by the conservative Christian political advocacy group, Faith and Freedom Coalition, on Saturday. The group strongly advocates for a national ban on abortion. Trump’s speech comes two days before the second anniversary of the Supreme Court‘s decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, which had maintained that the Constitution protected a woman’s right to an abortion.
Trump’s position on the issue is that abortion legislation should be determined at the state level, saying on Saturday, “The people will decide and that’s the way it should be. The people are now deciding.”
Also in his speech, Trump, the presumptive Republican 2024 presidential nominee, jokingly said: “If I took this shirt off, you would see a beautiful, beautiful person. But you would see wounds all over. I’ve taken a lot of wounds, I can tell you. More than I suspect any president ever.”
Newsweek has reached out to the Trump campaign’s spokesperson for comment via email on Saturday evening.

X user @UROCKlive1 wrote: “This one part might be true. Dementia patients often take a lot of falls and are prone to injuring themselves.” The post received over 900 likes as of Saturday afternoon.

Luke Beasley, a progressive political commentator, reshared the Biden-Harris campaign video and wrote: “He’s really lost it.” Beasley’s post has been viewed by over 34,000 users as of Saturday afternoon.
Democratic content creator Harry Sisson wrote: “Donald Trump just talked about taking his shirt off during his speech in DC today. I think I speak for all Americans when I say please DO NOT DO THAT. Nobody needs or wants to see that. Please refrain. This is the Republican nominee, folks.” His post has been viewed by 12,000 users as of Saturday afternoon.
The former president is expected to accept the GOP nomination at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, which will take place from July 15 to July 18.
X user Kevin Dalton wrote: “[Abraham] Lincoln, [James] Garfield, [John F.] Kennedy, and even [Ronald] Reagan may disagree a little.”
Meanwhile, Trump supporter and X user @TheMagaHulk shared the former president’s speech and wrote: “If Trump took his shirt off, he’d get over 120 million votes, easily winning the female vote.”
