Tim Walz may have made a subtle nod to Taylor Swift on the debate stage.
The 2024 United States vice presidential debate took place on Tuesday, October 1, in New York City and featured Democratic nominee Walz, 60, and Republican nominee JD Vance going head to head on important issues affecting the country. While watching the broadcast, Swifties noticed an interesting accessory peeking out from the Minnesota Governor’s sleeve — a bracelet that closely resembled Swift’s iconic friendship bracelets.

While it’s not confirmed that Walz was rocking a friendship bracelet, fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts on the former high school teacher’s piece of jewelry.
“Did anyone else notice Tim Walz wearing friendship bracelets.. bc I did,” one user wrote.
@Swifties4Kamala, a fan page that has amassed over 82,000 followers, posted about the discovery and referenced the pop star’s hit song “You’re on Your Own, Kid,” which mentions friendship bracelets in the lyrics. “@Tim_Walz wore friendship bracelets on the debate stage and we’re trying to play it cool with the best of them!,” the account wrote.
“This really is a new era Friendship bracelets are now next level! #SwiftiesForKamala,” a fan wrote.
A fellow teacher related to Walz’s accessory writing, “That’s so awesome. As a lifelong teacher, I can say that is totally something a good-hearted teacher would do!.”
In September, the Nebraska native discovered on live television that the 14-time Grammy winner had endorsed him and Kamala Harris‘ campaign via social media.
After MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow read Swift’s statement on Instagram, Walz spoke about what her endorsement meant to him. “All those things, I am incredibly grateful, first of all, to Taylor Swift. I say that also as a cat owner, a fellow cat owner,” Walz quipped. “That was eloquent, and it was clear — and that’s the type of courage we need in America to stand up.” Walz also asked for support from the Swifties. “This would be the opportunity, Swifties. KamalaHarris.com, get on over there,” Walz exclaimed. “Give us a hand. Get things going!”
Shortly after the singer-songwriter’s announcement, the democratic campaign started selling Harris-Walz friendship bracelets on their website. The bracelets are 100 percent [%] made in America and come in a pack of two for $20.
