Fans Throw Objects at Texans’ Azeez Al-Shaair After Trevor Lawrence Hit
Everyone watching the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Houston Texans were shocked when Houston linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair brutally hit Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence in the head as he attempted to slide.
This immediately resulted in penalty flags being thrown and Jaguars players getting in a scuffle with Al-Shaair. Given that Lawrence was in the “fencing response,” it appears that he suffered a concussion.
Lawrence was carted to the locker room and Al-Shaair was ejected from the game. However, fans wasted no time in showing how they felt about the Texans linebacker.
As he was leaving the field, Al-Shaair was pelted with objects thrown by the crowd in the stands coupled with a chorus of boos throughout the stadium.
This same sentiment was carried out online, where multiple fans and experts called for Al-Shaair to be suspended for the rest of the season.
“Prayers up for Trevor Lawrence,” said former Rookie of the Year Robert Griffin III. “There is no place in the game of football for dirty hits like this one.”
“If he’s not suspended for the entire season, then the NFL doesn’t care at all about player safety,” X user JaguarGator9 said.
Even Houston fans felt the hit was egregious.
“As a diehard Texans fan, I honestly think dude should be suspended at least the rest of the season for that hit on Trevor Lawrence,” @TheChrisJacobo said. “That was disgusting.”
Some fans noted that this isn’t the first issue like this from Al-Shaair. In the Texans’ game against the Chicago Bears, the linebacker was seen punching Roschon Johnson after a rough hit on quarterback Caleb Williams.
Other fans were equally disgusted that Jaguars players were also ejected for the brawl that happened afterward.
“This is the definition of a CHEAP SHOT,” Dalton Feely of Jomboy said. “I don’t usually condone brawls should happen but 100% agree with the Jaguars players defending Trevor Lawrence after the dirty play by Azeez Al-Shaair.”
Other fans went so far as to change Al-Shaair’s Wikipedia profile, per Streameast News Network.
“Azeez Al-Shaair is a dirty professional football linebacker for the Houston Texans in the National Football League (NFL),” the bio read. “He played college football at Florida Atlantic, where he received the First-team All C-USA award in 2017. He should never play football ever again.”
At this point, it’s clear that Al-Shaair has to be penalized in some way for what he did during this game.
