Glen Powell Totes Man’s Best Accessory Into Kimmel: His Beloved Pup Brisket
In his new GQ cover story—the centerpiece of our special issue on the State of the American Male—Glen Powell is photographed embodying a variety of contemporary masculine extremes, from absurdly pumped bodybuilder to (literally) oily politician. In the story, he says he’s most comfortable being “silly” and “buoyant.” He’s a guy, in other words, who’s not afraid to prod the limits of what it means to be a man in 2025. Case in point—walking into El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard for Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, Powell brought his best all-American apparel. Specifically, a hunter green letterman jacket fit for a lifelong jock, and a pair of thigh-hugging Wrangler jeans. He punctuated the jockish look with perhaps one of the most classically manly accessories of all time: his dog, a beloved terrier-poodle pup named Brisket, who he toted in a black carrier. As his name suggests, Brisket, like Powell, is from a homestead state: Oklahoma. (You may recognize him from his feature in Dogue.)
For his appearance, Powell stepped into a more formal outfit—which, notably, also boasted a sort of Ozian green on top, the color of growth and renewal—and talked about his family’s other, more exotic pets: a kangaroo, Trixie, and a monkey, Charlie. In a very in-character move, Powell mentioned that he had picked up where he left off in his path towards obtaining an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas. He said he was also hungover.

Powell joined Kimmel on the late night host’s first show back after a politically charged one-week suspension to promote Chad Powers, his forthcoming Hulu comedy show about a college quarterback who gets cancelled, per Wikipedia, “after disgracing himself in a championship game,” and mounts a comeback several years later. Though I wouldn’t recommend adopting a dog for good guy clout points, toting around a tiny thing like Brisket undoubtedly added to Powell’s already very potent appeal.
