IDF announces name of soldier killed in Gaza City

Demalash, 21, from Beersheba, served in the 932nd Battalion of the Nahal Brigade.

He was on guard duty at a fortified IDF outpost on the outskirts of the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in northern Gaza City when a Hamas sniper fired upon his position and seriously injured him, Maariv reported.

A medical team attempted to provide treatment to Demalash at the scene, but were forced to declare him dead, Maariv noted.

Army Radio noted that other IDF soldiers stationed at the outpost, aided by the air force, launched searches for the sniper to no avail.

According to the IDF’s tally, the death of St.-Sgt. Demalash raises the total of soldiers killed on or since October 7 to 912.

Defense Minister Israel Katz expressed his condolences to the Demalash family in a X/Twitter post on Thursday morning.

“The entire State of Israel honors his heroism and embraces his family during these difficult moments. Together with all the heroic soldiers of the IDF, we will continue to fight until the return of all the hostages and the defeat of our enemies,” Katz wrote.

Five other IDF soldiers fallen in past week

Maj. Shahar Netanel Bozaglo, 27, from Migdal Haemek, was killed in battle while fighting in the Gaza Strip, the IDF announced on Tuesday.

Bozaglo served in the 77th Battalion of the Armored Corps 7th Brigade.

Four IDF soldiers were killed and three were wounded in Rafah when their Hummer transport vehicle ran over an improvised explosive around 9:15 a.m. last Thursday morning.

The soldiers were named as Major Omri Chai Ben Moshe, 26, from Tzafriya, Lieutenant Ron Arieli, 20, from Hadera, Lieutenant Eitan Avner Ben Itzhak, 22, from Har Brakha, and Lieutenant Eran Shelem, 23, from Ramat Yohanan.
