IDF evacuation of Gaza City reaches 700,000 civilians

Although approximately 300,000 Palestinian civilians remain, the general population is continuing to evacuate.

The IDF has succeeded in evacuating over 700,000 Palestinian civilians from Gaza City as part of the recent invasion, up from around 550,000 earlier in the week and around 250,000 last week.

There are still around 300,000 Palestinian civilians in Gaza City, but the clear trend now seems to show that as the ground force invasion expands, the general civilian population is evacuating.

It also seems so far that Hamas is mostly evacuating with them, given that the IDF is not vetting those who are evacuating and all of the fighting between the military and Hamas has been at most small skirmishes.

The IDF has also said that there are probably some more committed fighters hiding in tunnels and other concealed areas in order to carry out sporadic guerilla warfare against IDF forces, which have already caused a number of deaths of Israeli soldiers.

The ground invasion is progressing overall

Regarding overall progress in Gaza, the IDF spokesperson’s office said that the air force struck more than 170 targets throughout the Strip, including terrorists, military structures, weapons storage facilities, and terror infrastructure.

Additionally, several terrorist infrastructure sites that were used for ambushes against soldiers were struck, along with additional weapons storage facilities.

In one weapons facility, the IDF found over 20 improvised explosive devices, dozens of grenades, and other weapons, though very few Hamas fighters.

IDF divisions also continued to dismantle Hamas positions in other parts of Gaza, including Rafah.

Despite the IDF’s progress, Hamas managed to fire a rocket at an IDF helicopter.

The rocket missed and the helicopter continued on its mission, but Hamas has kept up consistent small volumes of rocket fire, usually one or two at a time over the last couple of weeks.

None of the recent rockets have harmed anyone, and the Gaza terror group has mostly been unable to target anything beyond the Gaza border areas since January 2024.
