IDF opens fire at suspected terrorists in Gaza Strip


The IDF opened fire on Hamas terrorists who emerged from a tunnel near the Netzarim Corridor on Wednesday, killing several and pursuing others who fled back underground, according to Israeli reports.

The IDF identified suspected terrorists at a post in the Gaza Strip, who were on their way to attack IDF soldiers in the area, opening fire at them on Wednesday, the military confirmed.

IDF soldiers shot and killed some of the terrorists in the incident, the military added.

There were no injuries to Israeli soldiers, the military confirmed, adding that searches are underway.

The suspects consisted of a squad of Hamas terrorists who emerged from a tunnel in the center of the enclave, near the Netzarim Corridor, Army Radio’s Doron Kadosh added.

Surviving terrorists fled back into the tunnel, Kadosh’s report added.

The IDF is conducting searches for the suspects, Walla learned.

Israeli public broadcaster KAN News identified the IDF soldiers as part of the Golani Brigade.

Katz, IDF commander instruct soldiers to ‘prepare for any scenario’

Additionally, Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Southern Command chief Maj.-Gen. Yaniv Asor visited IDF soldiers in Gaza City, instructing them to “prepare for any scenario, and to take all necessary measures to protect and ensure the security of soldiers.”
