Jacob Elordi Is Our Pick for Best Supporting Mustache
Jacob Elordi knows how to accessorize an outfit. He often deploys an arsenal of Bottega Veneta bags, hoop earrings, and the occasional teensy coffee cup) to complement his laid-back street style. And at last night’s 2026 Critics’ Choice Award, his hairy upper lip played a crucial supporting role in his role his red carpet outfit, much as his portrayal of the Creature did in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
The 6’7” (6’5”?) actor, who took home his first major acting accolade last night for Best Supporting Actor, is no stranger to turning heads with his impeccable grooming. A legion of young men have been replicating his baby mullet, a coif that his hairstylist Amy Komorowski told GQ is both “a subtle nod to the ‘70s” that’s still “modern and timeless,” and Elordi joins the ranks of other follicly blessed men who have been rocking some seriously stylish ‘staches of late. We think, though, that his might be the best of the bunch.
Elordi’s no stranger to growing some impressive facial hair. His rugged—and divisive—beard from 2024 at the Marrakech Film Festival had some questioning whether or not the actor was actually “hot.” At the time, Alex Berry, master barber at Toronto’s Garrison’s Barbershop, suggested to GQ that the “heavy and prominent” mustache in Elordi’s look was what made it controversial. Alone, though, that mustache has proven to be the secret sauce for sex appeal.
For the past couple months of the Frankenstein awards circuit, Elordi’s mustache has been a constant, subbing in for the Frankenstein-coded outfits that joined him during the film’s initial promotional run. His facial hair’s scruff has been ebbing and flowing in thickness over the course of his award show hopping, and achieved peak plushness when Elordi hit the stage to accept his award on Sunday. Paired with the actor’s ‘70s hair and tinted sunglasses, the ‘stache achieves an effortless, retro vibe.
One important grooming point to note is that despite its heft and thickness, the mustache has been properly groomed. Unlike when he grew out his full beard, his Critics Choice mustache has been trimmed so that it doesn’t grow past his upper lip, and its width extends between the midpoints of his pupils. This gives off the impression that the mustache was an actual style choice and not an oversight in the hair and makeup chair.
Next up on the road to the Oscars is Sunday night’s 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards where Elordi is up for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture for his role in Frankenstein. Could he go two for two and win his first Globe? Let’s just say we wouldn’t mind if his impressive mustache took center stage again.
