Jonathan Bailey Is Into Tiny Watches Now, Too
Omega’s stable of ambassadors each plays a key role. Daniel Craig, familiar with secret ops, helps tease new releases, Clooney shows the brand’s standards are as handsome as he is, and Domingo shows off blingy special editions. Bailey appears to be the man responsible for flying the flag for slightly more unusual pieces.
It’s a job Bailey takes seriously. His wristwear for Jurassic World couldn’t have been more on point (the lab-ready Railmaster for the actor’s scientist) and this weekend he rocked arguably his most out-there piece yet.
His flex of choice is Omega De Ville Mini Trésor. This is a legitimately tiny watch that measures in at just 26 mm! Still, there’s enough space here for Omega to lace the watch with diamonds on the most sides of the moonshine gold case. Although it’s very much marketed as a ladies’ watch, Bailey was rightfully not scared off. The actor whacked it on his wrist and turned up to the premiere of the Broadway show Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York). Here, he could not have played the part of dress-down celebrity going semi-incognito much chicer.
As GQ’s Mahalia Chang puts it, “if you need any further proof in this frigid weather that being cozy doesn’t have to look serious and boring, direct your eyes to Bailey’s sweater. A Burberry piece in ‘Atom blue,’ it’s the type of well-structured and perfectly fit knitwear that makes you look warm and jacked at the same time.” And Bailey knows how to wear this particular watch. His sleeves rolled up just enough to give the Mini Trésor its moment of glory.
Mini watches like this keep collecting fans despite their diminutive size. Both Timothée Chalamet and Bowen Yang have a habit of rocking a pair of tiny Tanks at once. Brands like Hublot, Audemars Piguet, Cartier, and Omega can’t churn out enough of these Mini watches to meet demand. Now, it’s catching on with men like Chalamet, Yang, and Bailey who prove there’s no more delightful horological trend right now.
