Kings Star De’Aaron Fox Slams Rumors Pointing to Dysfunction Within Team

The Sacramento Kings have been in the news a lot lately and for all the wrong reasons. Sacramento recently made the decision to part ways with head coach Mike Brown following a poor start to the season.

Despite Brown winning the NBA Coach of the Year award in 2023, the Kings decided it was time to move on from him. Sacramento missed the postseason last year and has come out of the gates very slowly this season.

Within all the noise around the team, speculation about a possible trade of star point guard De’Aaron Fox came about. Many started to believe that a trade of the star could come down the pipeline.

There were also rumors about dysfunction running toward the organization, leading to the firing of Brown. This pushed the narrative even further about Fox possibly wanting out of the franchise.

However, Fox decided to push back on those rumors, slamming them on social media. According to the guard, the only reality behind the rumors was that they were just noise.

Players have started to defend themselves more and more over the years once reports come out in the media. For Fox, he is normally a soft-spoken player who just lets his talking be done on the court.

His response shows his frustrations with the matter and only enforces the happenings behind the scenes. Fox has been the franchise player for the Kings since Sacramento took him with the No. 5 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

The All-Star has said that he prefers to be in Sacramento but also that he wants to win. It’s a classic situation that many smaller market teams deal with, year in and year out.

“But I want to make sure that we’re in that position to be competing and competing at a high level for a long time, not just fighting for a playoff spot. Obviously, the way that the West is going, we have to continue to get better as players and as a team, as an organization. And, I mean, I’m not saying I’m not staying or that I am staying. But I would love to be here, and I want to make sure that we’re competing at a high level.”

Whether he actually ends up leaving Sacramento remains to be seen. But the Kings will need to prove that they are being competitive for him to stay.
