Lakers Role Player Send Cryptic Social Media Message Regarding Next Season

The Los Angeles Lakers will enter the 2024-25 season as one of the more underwhelming teams from this offseason. The Lakers were supposed to have a summer that would change the landscape of the NBA; instead, they will likely come into the season as virtually the same team.

Although the Lakers will continue to be led by future Hall of Famers and superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the rest of the roster seems bleak. L.A.’s roster isn’t considered to be a threat outside of James and Davis, and a trade is on the horizon for this team.

Nonetheless, Lakers’ first-year head coach JJ Redick will need to find a way to make it work in the meantime, and that includes incorporating center Christian Wood into the mix. Wood will enter his second season in purple and gold, and after a disappointing first year, he will look for vengeance.

Wood posted a cryptic message regarding the next season via his Instagram.

If Wood is healthy and available, that alone will be an upgrade from the previous season. The 28-year-old played only 50 games in the 2023-24 season and averaged his lowest numbers since the 2018-19 season he spent with the Milwaukee Bucks and the New Orleans Pelicans.

The NBA journey name last played on Feb. 14, and he underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on his left knee in March.

He averaged 6.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists, while he shot 46.6 percent from the field and 30.7 percent from three on 2.3 attempts per game. His 30.7 percent from the three was well below his career average of 37.2 percent.

Wood, a Long Beach native, struggled mightily with the Lakers. He averaged 17.4 minutes per game, and some nights, he wouldn’t even see the floor. The former UNLV Runnin’ Rebel is with the team for one more year after he exercised his player option for the 2024-25 season for $3 million.

Wood will battle for some minutes with L.A.’s other big man reserve, Jaxson Hayes. The Lakers signed Wood late last offseason, and he was expected to bring his shooting ability and occasional defense to the team.

Now, the expectation for Wood is to remain healthy, and whatever L.A. can get from him will be a massive plus. Wood went undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft and has bounced around from the Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, New Orleans Pelicans, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, and the Dallas Mavericks.
