Melania Trump’s silence on husband’s verdict raises eyebrows

Some social media users are questioning Melania Trump‘s silence on the verdict reached in her husband, former President Donald Trump‘s criminal trial this week.

“Where was Melania?” Editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch and former federal prosecutor Ron Filipkowski wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

On Thursday, a jury in New York City reached a verdict in Trump’s criminal trial where he was accused of arranging for hush money payments to be made to former adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016. The jury found the former president guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in relation to the payments.

Following the verdict, a number of Trump’s family members, such as his two sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, issued messages in response.

“Guilty on all counts. The Democrats have succeeded in their years long attempt to turn America into a third-world s*******. November 5 is our last chance to save it,” Trump Jr. wrote in one post.

“This case was rigged from the start. Remember, the same hacks in the media demanding Justice Alito recuse himself because of a flag, have zero problem with the corrupt judge in this case being a donor to Joe Biden or his daughter making millions from Democrats!” Trump Jr. wrote in another post.

Similarly, Eric Trump said, “May 30th, 2024 might be remembered as the day Donald J. Trump won the 2024 Presidential Election.”

The former president also delivered a speech on Friday to respond to the verdict, where Eric and his wife, Lara Trump, were in attendance. However, Melania was not there, prompting some to question her absence and silence on social media.

“Melania has been noticeably silent and never showed up to the trial, unlike other family members,” journalist Michael Tracey wrote on X.

X user @markgoo80547801 shared an image of Melania with a caption that said, “Can you confirm conjugal visits are not mandatory?” poking fun at Trump as he could possibly face jail time.

X user @niceguy_eddie shared a meme of Melania and wrote, “Where is Melania ?”

Andrew Mercado, a U.S. Army Veteran also asked “Where is Melania?”

X user @emptywheel said, “Melania Trump never once came to the courthouse to support her spouse.”

X user @meralee727 said, “Why do we think Melania Trump is going to release a statement supporting her business partner? She’s probably busy trying to figure out if Trump’s legal fees are going to affect her income?”

Newsweek reached out to Trump’s spokesperson via email for comment.
