Mitsubishi’s global vehicle output rises 6% in December
Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors Corporation reported a 6.3% increase in global production to 76,688 vehicles in December 2025, up from 72,118 units in the same month of the previous year. Production in Japan rose by 16% year-on-year to 45,336 units, while overseas output fell by over 5% to 31,352 units.
Sales in Japan, including vehicles imported from overseas, declined by over 7% to 9,285 units in December, while exports from Japan rose by 25% to 27,589 units, driven by an 83% jump in shipments to North America to 14,208 units.
In the whole of 2025, Mitsubishi produced 883,828 vehicles globally, down by 6.4% compared with 944,708 units in the same period last year. Domestic output declined by 2.1% to 471,467 units, while overseas production fell by 11% to 412,361 units. Sales in Japan fell by 1.3% to 117,896 units last year, while exports fell by 2.9% to 227,760 units.
