Moment cats who were best friends reunite after being forced apart
A woman has shared the heartwarming story of her cat reuniting with her best friend after eight months apart.
Bella and Oreo (@lussysmiles) were neighbors and met when they were kittens. They played together every day until Bella had to move away in December, and they couldn’t see each other anymore. Bella’s owner made it her goal to find Oreo in the fields where the felines used to play.
“I can’t believe we have finally found him and the lovebirds could be reunited for at least an hour,” Lucie Zemkova , 32, a shop assistant from Hertfordshire, U.K, said as she captured the shock reunion on TikTok.
“We will definitely try to see him again before Bella leaves the country; they need to say their final goodbyes,” she shared on the video that garnered 102,700 views and nearly 9,800 likes. Zemkova and Bella are to leave the U.K. soon.
First, the video showcases their old life as best friends. Oreo routinely waited at Bella’s door for her to come out and play.
Oreo picked her up every single morning as the video shared the inseparable bond between the two black cats playing for hours.
“Their relationship was kind of like a couple. He would come and wait for her at our door every morning, she waking up early excited to go out and spend time with her little boyfriend, just lying next to each other, watching birds in our garden, chasing each other around, or going hunting in a field behind our house together,” Zemkova told Newsweek.
“There was nothing that could come between them,” Zemkova said on TikTok. Their relationship had to change when Zemkova and Bella discovered they had to move to an area 3 miles away due to an increase in rent. The move away from Oreo broke Bella’s heart.
“Bella not seeing Oreo was very difficult for her at first. She didn’t eat much, she was looking sad all the time, and she didn’t want to play or do anything for the first few days,” Zemkova explained.
In the video, the owner revealed she promised Bella she would see her love again as she walked her on her leash.
After eight months of searching the grass fields, the pair had no luck—until one day, Bella spotted her old friend while on a walk.
“Now they can finally chase each other again. Just be near each other. And enjoy every minute of just being together. Just like the old times,” Zemkova said.
At first, Bella was suspicious and hissed at her old beau, but Oreo was instantly delighted upon seeing her, according to Zemkova.
“I was almost crying when I finally saw them together, especially since we came around multiple times before and could never find him, and it finally happened.
“I just felt bad I couldn’t let her off her leash so they could truly enjoy themselves, but they still spent an hour together just loving being able to be near each other,” the 32-year-old said.
Commenters were left emotional by the bittersweet reunion.
“This happened to my cat; his little friend from next door that he grew up with moved, and he was so sad. He used to just sit in the middle of the garden waiting for her,” said one user.
“Well, that’s just about the sweetest and most wholesome thing I’ve seen today,” said Craig.
“They are soulmates,” another user said.
