NYT ‘Connections’ hints June 26: clues and answer for game #381
Another day means there is another Connections puzzle to solve—and Newsweek is here to help eager players solve it.
For the uninitiated, Connections is the latest word game from The New York Times that has taken social media by storm.
Launched in June 2023, it has quickly achieved viral success and is now the news outlet’s second most-played brainteaser after the hugely popular Wordle.

How To Play ‘Connections’
In Connections, players are tasked with grouping together words by matching them by theme or category. There are 16 words in total, which need to be split into four different groups. For example, Tuesday’s game linked the words “dish,” “spill,” “talk” and “tell,” which all came under the category “divulge, as private information.”
Each of the four categories is labeled with a color, which also signifies their difficulty level. Yellow is the easiest category, followed by green, blue and purple. However, the puzzles are rarely straightforward, using homophones and wordplay, among other techniques, to keep things interesting.
The themes that unite the words come from a broad range of categories, which have included horror-movie franchises, types of sounds and food.
If all four words are correctly placed into each set, those words will be removed from the board. Each incorrect guess counts towards the mistakes tally. Up to four errors can be made before it’s game over.
Players can shuffle and rearrange the board if they want to try to make the process of guessing the connections easier.
To make things a bit tougher, a word can sometimes belong to more than one category—but there is only one correct answer.
