The incident unfolded amid heightened tensions in the ultra-Orthodox (haredi) community surrounding military-conscription legislation, which Shas supported. Ben-Tzur’s vehicle was targeted after he left a learning session, and no injuries were reported, though the car sustained damage. The episode drew condemnation from across the political spectrum and from Shas, which said the attackers did not represent the broader haredi public.
