Protest outside German Foreign Office calls for Berlin to help Gaza

Employees of aid organizations working in the Gaza Strip have demonstrated in front of the German Foreign Office in Berlin, demanding that Israel respect international humanitarian law.

Around 120 people took part in the rally in the German capital on Wednesday.

The organizers called for a significant increase in aid deliveries to the civilian population in Gaza and an end to attacks on medical facilities.

In a statement, the alliance said: “We need an unmistakable signal from Berlin to the Israeli government.”

“This is the only way to achieve a massive increase in the import of urgently needed goods and an end to the attacks on medical facilities, medical personnel and the civilian population,” the statement added.

Germany has been one of the Israeli government’s main supporters since the October 7, 2023, attacks by the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which sparked the conflict in Gaza.

However, Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s new administration has voiced heavy criticism of Israel’s conduct this week, amid warnings that the civilian population in Gaza faces starvation due to the recent Israeli aid blockade.
