Qatar says it shot down two Iranian fighter jets
Qatar shot down two Iranian fighter jets on Monday, the Ministry of Defence said, marking a further escalation since the current conflict erupted two days ago.
Qatar’s air force successfully shot down two SU24 aircraft coming from Iran, the ministry said, adding it has also intercepted seven ballistic missiles and five drones, which targeted several areas in the Gulf country.
Doha said that threats were addressed immediately upon detection and all missiles were shot down before reaching their targets. The ministry urged people, both residents and visitors, to remain calm and follow official instructions.
The authorities on Saturday instructed people to remain indoors and refrain from going out except when necessary.
