Shelter puppy and man “immediately chose” each other in heartwarming video
A video of a shelter puppy putting on her best performance in hopes of getting adopted melted hearts as her happy ending came true instantly.
TikTok user @graham.britt and her husband visited a local animal shelter and fell in love with a puppy named Moka. The pup was on a 72-hour stray hold, meaning she couldn’t be adopted for a few days. Animal shelters often implement a stray hold to allow those who may have lost their dog to find them. But once that time is up, the dogs are put up for adoption.
The couple couldn’t stop thinking about Moka after they met her during a visit. They knew right away that if she got removed from the stray hold, they would bring her home. They got the word and immediately went back for her.
In the December 28 TikTok video, Moka greeted the husband like an old friend. She jumped straight into his lap, gladly accepting all of the pets. Her reaction made it seem like she was trying to convince the couple to adopt her. Little did she know that they returned to the shelter specifically for her.
In the clip, the husband welcomed the pup into his arms. You could tell she felt safe as she exposed her belly and her tail wagged the entire time. It was a match made in heaven, especially for the husband, as he had been longing for a dog.
The caption reads: “They immediately chose each other.”
Thrilled to bring her home, the video text explained that the couple cried on the way to the shelter, knowing they were going to rescue the pup. They found that this tiny pup in need of a home also filled a dog-sized hole in their hearts.
The precious TikTok video amassed over 8.3 million views, 1.1 million likes and 4,495 comments as of Thursday. Just as the couple knew, viewers knew that these two belonged together.
“Oh this just warmed our hearts in all the ways. EVERY dog deserves a loving home. You are a hero!” the official TikTok account for Pedigree commented.
Another added: “That’s a ‘There you are!’ dive. She found her home.”
A third person said: “The instant belly up she picked you and trust you!!!”
The owners shared in a separate video: “Our entire life has changed in the matter of a week, and we are eternally grateful.”
