Shocking NL Contender Rumored To Steal $200M Alex Bregman From Astros
The Alex Bregman sweepstakes have heated up quite a bit recently. While there had been a few known suitors for the veteran infielder, the Houston Astros recently re-emerged as a candidate to land the star.
This came as a shock as it seemed like Bregman was moving on from Houston. The Astros had traded for Isaac Paredes to play third base and signed Christian Walker to play first base.
In a shocking turn of events, the Astros could look to land Bregman after his negotiations with other teams stalled. It would just take some shuffling of positions if they can bring him back.
But Houston isn’t the only surprise suitor emerging this week.
Jon Heyman of the New York Post recently revealed the Chicago Cubs had emerged as a shocking new suitor in the $200 million sweepstakes to acquire Bregman.

“Astros and Cubs are believed showing significant interest in Alex Bregman, with (Detroit) Tigers and (Boston) Red Sox among others involved,” Heyman wrote in a post to Twitter/X. “His longtime Astros team, also engaged at the start of winter, want him enough, so they may move (Isaac) Paredes to second base and (Jose) Altuve to left field to accommodate.”
The Red Sox and Tigers are known suitors in the Bregman sweepstakes at this point. The Cubs haven’t been as closely linked to the star infielder, so that makes it much more shocking.
Chicago has looked to improve this winter, starting with the blockbuster acquisition of outfielder Kyle Tucker. Now, it could look to steal another superstar from the Astros, this time in free agency.
