Sleepy puppy tasting delicious treat for first time goes viral

A tiny puppy who got his first taste of a pup cup while in a sleepy state has delighted the internet.

Hails, who posts to TikTok under the username @legendarygibberish, is the proud owner of adorable pup Leo, a Great Dane.

While now more grown-up, the Dane—one of the tallest breeds of dogs in the world—was once a tiny puppy, getting his first taste of a dog’s favorite treat.

Pup cups are the name given to cups of whipped cream or ice cream, sometimes offered by coffee shops to pet owners getting a treat for both themselves and their four-legged friends.

In a throwback video to her account on December 11, Hails wrote: “Throwback to little man’s first pup cup. Listen to those smacks.”

The clip, viewed over 700,000 times, shows Leo dozing in a dog bed in the car, nestled on someone’s lap. The human reaches a cream-covered finger up to the pooch’s face.

When they dab the cream on his lip, his tongue reacts instantly, sticking out to lap up the sweet food.

And as Leo’s eyes open, the human places the cream-filled cup under the dog. Leo instantly digs in, making little smacking noises in his hurry to devour it, while still lying down in his bed.

TikTok users fell instantly in love, with one calling it “so stinking cute,” and another asking: “Why do human mouth noises infuriate me but animal mouth noises makes my heart flutter?”

Another laughed at Leo’s “little tongue shake when the taste hits,” as one pleaded: “OK but why can’t I be woken up like this just once?”

And as one commenter put it: “I love the slow start THEN it hits the brain he’s going full speed lol.”

As a Great Dane, little Leo didn’t stay little for long: the breed can grow up to 32 inches at the shoulder, and weigh up to 175 pounds.

For owners capable of taking such a large pet into their home, the Dane makes a good pet, noted for being extremely affectionate with family, and making good guard dogs.

More recent videos to Hails’ TikTok account show the now older and larger Leo taking baths, playing with his owners, experiencing snowfall, and being taken on adventures to town.
