South Korea is teaming up with Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) in a monumental bet on AI one that might effectively reshape the entire landscape of the entire industrial base. The government announced plans to deploy more than 260,000 of Nvidia’s cutting-edge GPUs across the country, spanning both public institutions and top private firms.
About 50,000 chips will go to national AI centers and government projects, while giants like Samsung Electronics, SK Group, Hyundai Motor Group, and Naver will tap over 200,000 GPUs to bring AI deeper into manufacturing and robotics.
SK Group is working with Nvidia to launch Asia’s first enterprise-led manufacturing AI cloud and a new Manufacturing AI Startup Alliance to foster innovation. Hyundai, meanwhile, inked an MoU with Nvidia and Korea’s Ministry of Science to use Blackwell GPUs in its factories to quicken up autonomous driving and robotics development.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said Korea’s next big export might be intelligence itself which is essentially a nod to its long history of building ships, cars, and chips. Moreover, the partnership cements Korea’s ambition to become a global AI powerhouse.
