These Are the Sexiest Movie Jeans of 2025
Zeggaï and Daman outfitted Whishaw in vintage Levi’s jeans, a blue-and-green plaid shirt under a faded Egyptian blue sweater, and Daman’s own perfectly worn-in tank top. The cherry on top? A red, Rebel Without a Cause-esque jacket.
“I saw that red windbreaker out at this little thrift store on 14th Street,” Daman says. “It felt so kind of iconic, gay, James Dean, Rebel Without a Cause. I was like, ‘It might be too kitsch’… and it was the perfect size for Ben.”
“Ira is very involved in choosing costumes and deciding the right moment for them to appear,” Zeggaï tells GQ via email. “He pays great attention to details. That led him to want Ben’s belt to be identical to Peter Hujar’s on pictures [for example].”
But the pièce de résistance of the film’s wardrobe might be the vintage Levi’s 501s that Whishaw slinks around the film. Throughout their research, the team realized that jeans would be an important part of recreating the Hujar image. “There’s no video of Peter Hujar that I’ve ever seen, and there’s very little audio, but there’s quite a few photographs,” Sachs says. “We could really study how Peter Hujar wore jeans and what kinds of jeans he might wear.”
During the initial fitting in Paris, Whishaw tried on several pairs of jeans before they landed on the right ones, Zeggaï says. Ultimately, she admits, “Ben is very easy to dress.”
The vintage 501s that won out might be the most perfectly fitting jeans you’ll see in film this year, hugging Whishaw’s lithe body in all the right places. “Especially on a gay man in the ’70s, the jean was such a perfect fit,” Daman says. “They were a slim straight and it was just the perfect wash. For Ben’s figure and the way they fit his ass, they’re the perfect fucking hot gay man jean.”
