Titans Predicted To Pass On QB, Trade Out Of Top Spot In NFL Draft
The Titans have a big decision to make when they’re on the clock first in April’s draft. Tennessee is in a position to select one of the top quarterbacks, which the team desperately needs.
However, there is a scenario where they could trade down to stockpile more draft picks, which CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso sees them doing in his latest projections.
The Titans move down one spot with the Browns, who select Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders with the No. 1 overall pick. Tennessee acquires the second pick, Cleveland’s 2025 third-round pick and 2026 second-round pick.
With Miami’s Cam Ward still available, the Titans pass on him and make a surprise selection with LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell.
“Maybe Brian Callahan and the new general manager take a swing at a veteran quarterback to serve as a bridge to a passer picked in one of the coming drafts,” Trapasso wrote. “In the meantime, they fortify the right side of the offensive line with this selection.”
Tennessee will have a new general manager making the pick after they parted ways with Ran Carthon. But whoever that is, they need to address the quarterback position. The options in free agency are limited, so the draft makes the most sense to get one.
If the Titans were to make a shocker of a move and elect to take Campbell, they would plug him in at right guard, with Dillon Radunz set to be a free agent or at right tackle, which is also a glaring need heading into this offseason.
Campbell primarily played left tackle throughout his college career, but he is projected to be able to kick inside at the next level.
