Woman shares contents of conference’s “party bag” when packed by boomers
A woman shared what she received in a goodie bag packed by boomers after a work event.
Hanna Choi, a resident of Southern California, sparked conversation when she shared her reaction to the contents of a bag from her workplace, which she did not name.
“The event was a department-wide town hall gathering that required employees to attend in person and learn more about creating a great workplace where great people can do great things,” Choi told Newsweek.
Despite a good experience at the event, the contents of the goodie bag provided at the end left her stunned. It included:
- A book titled 212 The Extra Degree
- A small bottle of plain seltzer water
Since the event, Choi said she hadn’t had any use for the items: “It has been resting on the floor of my room for the past few weeks,” she said.

In a video on TikTok that has more than 260,000 views, she shared snippets of the event and, more importantly, the contents of the bag.
“When the boomers were in charge of the party bag for everyone at work,” the text overlay on the video read.
In the comments, people reacted to the selection of free gifts: “Lol not the gifts being that,” said TikTok user Bb. Viewer ThatzNice said: “I would have left it there.”
“I always get a kick out of watching videos of different generations at work, and this felt like a classic millennials vs. boomers type of situation,” Choi told Newsweek. She said the unexpected reaction to her video had been both validating and entertaining.
“I didn’t know people felt this strongly about party bags. Reading the responses validated how out of touch the party bag was. I felt like there were a lot of people with employers who had no idea what their employees need or want,” she said.
The responses weren’t all negative though; some commenters suggested clever uses for the items, like storing candy in the pill box or donating the whole bag to Goodwill.
“The reaction to the video was honestly a breath of fresh air,” Choi said. “The people gave a voice to the innermost thoughts of employees who are expected to be nothing but positive and grateful.'”
