8 Things GQ Readers Couldn’t Stop Buying in May

What You Should Buy Next: And then there’s the Gator Run, the new kid on the block. This is easily one of the weirdest NBs out there right now, leaning heavily into trail running and outdoorsy vibes without going full gorpcore. The strange, toothy outsole makes it feel a lot more niche compared to your average pair, which is why so many trainer guys are gravitating towards it.

Who Let the Dogs Out: Blundstone Aerocork Sandal

Aerocork Sandal

The Story: Blundstone’s New Sandals Are Aimed Squarely at Birkenstock Fans

Why You Bought It: Blundstone has long had the market cornered when it comes to hard-wearing slip-on boots. Even Jacob Elordi is a fan, spotted recently wearing the brand’s classic 585 Chelsea boots with loose jeans and a blue sweatshirt. They’ve become so ubiquitous that this past winter, the brand literally had a billboard on my street in Toronto showing its classic boot against a stark white background with the words: “IT’S BLUNDSTONE WEATHER.” No explanation necessary. Around here, everybody knows what that means. But now, “Blundstone weather” extends into summer, too.

Fresh out the box, you could mistake the new Aerocorks for an Arizona, but there are differences. First, and most obviously, in the suede upper. The lower strap forks off to make a third strap that adds even more sturdiness and support. The top strap also has a reasonably subtle elastic side panel for extra comfort, which keeps your foot strapped in. There’s also only one buckle for all three straps, which streamlines the look substantially.

What You Should Buy Next: A new pair of slides might be in your future, especially if like us, you want to let the dogs loose this summer.
