Germany orders more Norwegian missiles for F-35 fighter jets

Germany has signed a contract worth around €324 million for the delivery of air-launched cruise missiles from Norway, the Norwegian arms manufacturer KONGSBERG announced on Monday.

“In June 2025, Germany became the fifth country to select the [Joint Strike Missiles] for its F-35 fighter jets,” the company said in a statement.

“Now the German federation has signed a contract for further deliveries of the missiles,” the statement added. The deal is structured as a government-to-government agreement between Norway and Germany.

The Joint Strike Missiles (JMS) were developed for the F-35 and are designed to locate and destroy heavily defended targets at sea and on land at long range with high precision.

Norwegian Defence Minister Tore O Sandvik said, “The JSM agreements show how we are already translating the strategic partnership into concrete capabilities that strengthen both our own defences and NATO.”
