The 41 Biggest Pants and Jackets We Saw at Paris Fashion Week

Few garments seem to get the menswear hive mind worked up quite like pants and jackets. (That Blink-182 album was really onto something, huh?) But for the real dressers out there, the most seamless way to work two, three, four layers into an outfit is, arguably, by sealing them in with a massive coat or a lofty pair of trousers. Plus, if you’re a shape-motivated dresser, an oversized item can provide structure (or lack thereof) and satisfy a desire for sartorial harmony—particularly if you’re a big-pants, little-shirt or a big-shirt, little-pants kind of guy.

At Paris Fashion Week this month, both the big pants agenda and its lesser-known brother, the big jacket lobby, still appeared to be in full force. Well-heeled runway attendees dressed in their most capacious pieces. Whether they were matching the energy of designers like Yohji Yamamoto and Rick Owens, whose collections tend to feature ballooned gauchos and puffy, cocoon-like coats, or simply building chic armor against the Parisian chill, the showgoers looked incredibly cool.

Here are 40 more of our favorite big pants and big coats from the season, as snapped on the streets of Paris by our on-the-ground photographer Christina Fragkou.
